Derby girl. Dancing queen. Type 1 diabetic of 18 years.

When I came to the end of my first season of playing roller derby, I realized that my progress had plateaued over the previous month and I found myself saying to my teammates “damn, I really wish I could work with a personal trainer who specializes in type 1 diabetes!” As you may imagine, those are hard to come by, and while I am not even a little bit qualified as a personal trainer, I am trying to become my own expert.

This blog is mostly a personal log, but I’m really hoping to be able to eventually connect to other derby players and other diabetics (and, hopefully other derby players who are also diabetics!).

I am Dany Stormborn of Seacoast Roller Derby. You can come see us play April-August in Dover, New Hampshire, USA.

Hey I play roller derby in Austin tx. I play with a team called bat city and I’m on the Texas roller girls rec league until I feel ready to try out for one of there league teams. But aside from that I’m a type one diabetic of 15 years and I feel similar to you and in feeling this way Google lead me to this page and Its really cool to know there’s ithers out there with the same struggle and maybe we can help each other out.. Who knows 🙂

I apologize; I just saw this–I’ve been inactive on this blog for a while. I’m actually going to Austin in a couple of weeks! WordPress is showing a gmail address for you. Is it okay if I email you directly? I’d love to be able to meet you and chat about roller derby!
